BASÍLICA DEL PILAR

One of the most important Marian Shrines in the catholic history, which is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year. It also appears to be a primary art centre with priceless artworks from different periods. Set on the banks of the Ebro river, it is a jewel of the baroque art in Aragon. The temple is the successor of the Gothic building from 1515. The last one, was the successor of the Romanesque structure, destroyed by a fire in 1443

PALACIO DE LA ALJAFERÍA

It is one of the most important monuments in the Hispanic-Muslim architecture from the eleventh century. Although the building has suffered successive reforms, we can still enjoy a walk along its beautiful courtyard from Patio de Santa Isabel, through el Salon Dorado and el Oratorio, that takes us to the splendid years of the kingdom of Taifas

CATEDRAL DE SAN SALVADOR (LA SEO)

Built under San Salvador´s name, it was the first Christian cathedral in Zaragoza. It is located in an area, previously occupied by the Roman Temple, Visigoth church and the Great Muslim Mosque. New pieces which follow the artistic Romanesque patterns, with elements built in the Cathedral of Jaca, were initiated in the end of the twelfth century.

LA LONJA

The building was raised by el Concejo and aimed to serve as Merchants’ Market according to the project by the master Juan de Sariñena. It is the first fully Renaissance building in the city and the most important civil construction of Aragon from the sixteenth century.

PATIO DE LA INFANTA

This courtyard, built in the middle of the sixteenth century, was a part of the palace on San Jorge Street owned by the banker and merchant Gabriel Zaporta. It represents a common Renaissance courtyard in Aragon. It outstands for its especially innovative decoration, however.

RUINAS DEL TEATRO ROMANO DE CAESARAUGUSTA

Architecturally, the Caesaraugusta theatre is an excellent model of a prototype widely spread all over the Mediterranean Roman world. This air building differs from other theatres, which support their grandstands on a mountain slope.

EL PARQUE GRANDE JOSE ANTONIO LABORDETA

It is a park of 40 hectareas in the city of Zaragoza, located in the University district. During almost a century it had been the biggest park in the city, until the Parque del Agua Luis Buñuel was raised, owing to the Expo Zaragoza in 2008. By September 2010 the park was called by Primo de Rivera name. Nevertheless, in the public outcry of Jose Antonio Labordeta`s death, the name of the park was changed.

PUERTA DEL CARMEN

Built by the architect Agustin Sanz in 1792, it is one of the entrances which the city had in the eighteenth century and which suffered the effects of the Sitios. Its structure, on a basis of Roman triumphal arch, is an example of a neoclassical model from Madrid.

TEATRO PRINCIPAL

The theatre has been under reforms since its inauguration on 25th August 1798, which initiated in 1858 when the architect Jose de Yarza transformed the interior of the primitive coliseum in order to increase the capacity.

MUSEO PABLO GARGALLO

It is a monographic museum dedicated to the artwork by the sculptor Pablo Gargallo from Aragon. It contains sculptures, drawings, engravings and cardboards made in a form of some sculptures, as well as the Document Repository related to the proper artist and contemporary sculpture. Installed in the Palacio de Argillo, it is a valuable example of the evolution in the civil architecture in Zaragoza from the seventeenth century.

ARCO DEL DEÁN

It represents one of the most emblematic landmarks of the city. Its origin lies in the thirteenth century, when the project to communicate the cathedral with the new house of the dean, the head of the cathedral chapter after the prelate, was completed. The arch had been restored many times and its existing version represents the last reform performed in the fourteenth century. Its outstanding feature is the viewpoint with its large windows of Gothic tracery mudejar.

This magnificent building was raised in 1994 in accordance with a design by Manuel Pérez Latorre. It holds an elevated portico supported by grand pillars which hosts a wide and modern services complex with capacity for ten thousand people in its interior.

PARANINFO UNIVERSITARIO

This work by the architect Ricardo Magdalena, represents the historicist trend of the corresponding period, in which models of the Renaissance palaces reappear. Following the tradition, bricks with polychrome tiles and stucco reliefs are used.

MURALLAS ROMANAS

Caesaraugusta was surrounded by a wall with numerous towers, around 120. Its walls, made with ashlars of alabaster and limestone in its exterior and extraordinarily hard mortar (opus caementicium) in its interior, featured thickness which in some areas reached 7m.
